I have finally made the progress I was hoping for with Roxy! Our 30 year old Double-Yellow headed Amazon parrot we have only had for at least 1-2 years now... She was a Re-home from her previous owner due to things not working out and she was re-homed to us from her ex owner she has always been a bit moody and grumpy around me and has finally warmed up to me after months of me trying to slowly work with her. Respecting a Bird's boundaries Is one of the best tools In learning a Bird's trust.

With this one It came easy because she wasn't just untamed she was tame just not openly friendly and needed time to adjust to me I don't like to give a bird a reason to bite me even If they act like they won't. I also try to give them the choice to decide. I finally got the results I wanted when she let me pet her this last Sunday morning before going to church and now she continues to let me pet her but not hold her yet.

Success!.

Yes I know her cage could use a clean I plan to clean her cage soon. I have a paper shortage so I can't replace It as often but do my best to keep her cared for. She's on a diet of Parrot food and whatever greens I can find she's trying new things.

be careful where you’re petting her, it seems like your stimulating her based on her body language. Petting a bird anywhere but the head often means you’re trying to be more than just “friends”. hope this helps! :)

I'm aware... She dose that anyway she's not the kind to get aggressive I wouldn't have touched her If I thought she might bite me I've been watching her behavior when I touch her she Isn't the Aggressive type so It should be fine as long as I'm not too relaxed about It. She's been pet there many times and Nothing bad had happened she dose the breeding thing even when I'm not touching her. As long as she doesn't get aggressive It should be fine I'm aware of It
