ABIGOR is a experimental/avant-garde black metal band formed in 1993 by Peter Kubik and Thomas Tannenberger. They recorded lots of demos, having on vocals Tharen (Alexander Opitz) which left the band , being replaced by Silenius (Michael Gregor), who recorded vocals for all Abigor records until the recording of "Channeling the Quintessence of Satan" , when he decided to leave the band.Thurisaz ed the band and finished recordings of "Channeling the Quintessence of Satan".

In 2003 ,Abigor broke up after releasing two more albums in the absence of T.T. ,who left the band from personal problems regarding the so called "scene".

In 2007 , P.K. did an interview where he talks about the band's songwriting:

"T.T. and I are responsible for the music, A.R. will do the lyrics and vocals, that’s how it works. I create riffs and record it, T.T. too, we send us files, create rough song-structures till we’re satisfied with the result of a song/album-“concept” then we start the recordings at T.T.’s Hell-Lab Studio."

Abigor's early album artworks were strongly inspired by "The Lord of the Rings". The album cover on Orkblut-The Retaliation is a collage of 2 paintings originally made by Ian Miller, Lord of the Rings fantasy artist.

Abigor took their album cover for Channeling the Quintessence of Satan from the work of the German artist Albrecht Dürer, named "The Knight, Death and the Devil" (1514).

Napalm Records released most Abigor releases.
