Hello there!

Mysty here with another custom pony crossover post, this time it is Il Capitano from Genshin Impact!! He’s gotta be my favourite character, idk why it took me so long to stop procrastinating and make him :sob: I started in January ahgdhsvjshs

First and foremost, it is always important to have a reference! I did these in January (when I started :skull: ), but I am still happy with how I wanted him to look, so no changes were needed~

Using my ever trusty oven bake soft Fimo clay in white, I first sculpted his curved horn, shoulders, coattails(?) and belt. I moved on to his chest, adding his collar and part of his heart, before adding the two strips of hair that fall over his shoulders.

That was enough detailed sculpting with squishy clay for me, so I cooked him for 25 minutes at 130-140°c.

two with the clay allowed me to finish his hair, tail and chains on his coattails. Since the plastic was warm as heck after being in the oven, it allowed me to blend in his hoof floof (or, feathering) and give him a smoother nose, much easier. But let me tell you, trying to braid miniature lengths of chain is not something you’d want to do twice🤪

Again I baked the clay for the same amount of time, and when he was free out of the oven I gave him a good sanding down, getting rid of any of my fingerprints and obnoxious bumps.

And just like that he was ready to be painted!

As always, I began with painting his coat a mid grey, and his hair a dark blue. Unfortunately, his coat was wayyy too dark for my liking, so I lightened it a little before continuing to paint his hooves.

I then hit a moment (months) of custom-pony-art-block, and he was left like that until now :sob: i’m sorry capita-pone.

I was in a pickle, the paints I had were not agreeing with me and would not blend together for that gorgeous ultramarine blue I needed, so! I took a much needed visit to my local craft shop (in my case, hobbycraft!) and finally found the colours I needed.

My gouache ultramarine blue came in clutch before I went to hobbycraft (hence his bluer hooves and horn), and it actually saved my vision of what he was going to look like HAHA

Unfortunately for me and my inability to mix up the same acrylic colour twice, I repainted both his deep grey coat and hair, just so I had the exact colours if I made a mistake painting other parts.

The next thing I had to do was to paint his little jacket and tabards(?) on his belt. I wanted to stick to his canon colours for the jacket, but fairly soon I gave up with trying to mix a grey that was darker than his coat and lighter than his hair - so I just went with black.

And my favourite part!! His eyes!!! God I will never love painting eyes more- as ridiculously tiny they may be- I’ll do it whatever.

This time, instead of painting the sclera first, I painted his eyelashes, the blue rotting and his eyebrows, and only then moving to paint the scleras, iris, pupils and blue gradient.
