Hello and welcome, lovely people of KA!

I've made so many playlists throughout

my time blogging, but I have never made

the most important playlist, aka the one

with the songs dearest to my heart. Of

all time. And no, it's not gonna be all skz

I swear. Only like. 90%. Jokes aside tho,

these are truly the songs I'd give an arm

and a leg for, not necessarily the songs I

enjoy listening to the most just the ones

I'm most emotionally attached to. Also I

grew up watching anime so lots of the

songs are gonna be anime openings.

𓈒 𓈒 𓈒

General disclaimer that some of these

videos / songs linked include violence,

blood, flashing images, topics like self-

harm so please watch with caution.

            ꒰ 35 ꒱ 𓈒 › miss you!

             ─ׂ﹝corpse﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ I miss seeing corpse around so

much y'all have no idea. I'm not

gonna pretend that I was the

biggest fan of his music, I def

wasn't. But there are a few of

his songs that I adore; "miss

you!" is at the top of that list. It

                has such a hard-hitting instru-

                mental that you wouldn't think

the song tells the story it does,

just from the sound, a story

of pain and heartbreak. I feel

like this song is way too heavy

to keep repeating, but it will

always have a special place in

my heart. Also the cherry on

                top, corpse's unreal voice. ❞

                ───────────────── 𐀔

            ꒰ 34 ꒱ 𓈒 › answer

             ─ׂ﹝ateez﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

           ➛ Ethereal. Starting with sweet

piano, we soon get soft singing

                and heavenly ad-libs. "Answer"

                always invokes this sense of

dejection in me. It is upbeat at

times, but the core of it is so

somber. Even tho its lyrics are

                motivational. Anyways, there's

so much I love about the song,

                especially the segment that

                progresses from hongjoong

                and mingi trading rap lines

into jongho's high note then to

the absolute blast that is the

                final chorus. ❞

                ───────── 𐀔

            ꒰ 33 ꒱ 𓈒 › auditory hallucination

             ─ׂ﹝jang jae in, nashow﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ "Kill me heal me" is truly the

the kind of kdrama that kills

and heals, sometimes all in the

                same breath. Same goes for

                its ost. Killing rapping. Healing

                singing. But above all, the

artists put so much into this

song. All of the pain our main

                characters experience can be

felt through it and every time

this plays in the drama, that

                scene becomes 10 times more

                emotional. Truly couldn't have

                chosen a better song. ❞

                ────────────── 𐀔

             ─ׂ﹝solo leveling﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ Funny how I went from not

                caring about solo leveling to

being absolutely in love with it.

I blame season 2. Anyway this

is another ost which you just

know that you're about to cry

of epic-ness as soon as it plays

and it's such a good fit for the

anime as well. Also xai's voice?

Her accent? That little bit of

                vibrato at the end? Absolutely

legendary. This is the type of

song you gotta listen to when

you wanna feel like you are

sung jinwoo and can do quite

                literally anything. ❞

                ─────────── 𐀔

            ꒰ 31 ꒱ 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 › euterpe

             ─ׂ﹝guilty crown﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ "Euterpe" starts off so slow but

but it gradually picks up as the

                singing gets more intense and

                the instrumental adds more

                elements. You won't usually see

me listening to ballads for long,

so I'm glad that this one is a

                nice mix of ballad-like singing

                with slightly dynamic music to

                accompany. The best aspect

of the song has to be incredibly

                delicate vocals. ❞

➛ Are we surprised this is here? If

                anything, I originally thought it'd

be higher. "Don't go insane" is

                yet another gem from christian,

both visually and aurally. A bare

                piano and his gorgeous voice

make up the intro, to which the

                other elements are graduallly

                added as we progress; synths,

                drums and those addicting

                whistles during the chorus. The

                whole wordplay on "I'm sane"

and "insane". The break at the

                bridge; the whispering, the

groove of the beat, the heavy

breathing. Such a good song. ❞

➛ I'm over my rock phase alright?

But still gotta pay tribute to one

of the defining songs of my

                adolescence. Absolutely iconic.

It starts out muffled with this

                old telephone like effect, only

adding to the feeling the lyrics

give about being on a sinking

ship. All the while, the synths

build up in the back, keep on

building up until the hook kicks

in with an explosion of sounds.

This song is so catchy, it's the

                kind of catchiness you don't

get tired of, even after years. ❞

                 ────────────────── 𐀔

            ꒰ 28 ꒱ 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 𓈒 › unravel

             ─ׂ﹝tokyo ghoul﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ The very quintessence of anime

openings. This is also used as

an ost in the anime, and doesn't

matter how shitty the anime is,

whenever this ost plays you get

                goosebumps anyways. Such a

                powerful sound even when tk

                uses his softest, prettiest tone

of voice. The switch from said

                tone to loud rock instrumentals

give whiplash, and it's still one

of the hardest hitting songs I've

ever heard in my life. ❞

one of my favorite genres. Huh.

                I guess sentimental songs that

                turn my world upside down

have the most impact on me. I

love this song for so many

                reasons, the raw display of

                rapping skills, the immaculate

                enunciation and wordplay in

the lyrics over the drill-like beat.

                And channie. His voice. His

thick accent in this one. His

➛ Heavenly in every sense of the

word. A lot of ash island songs

                tend to have this empyrean

quality to them, maybe it's the

                slow pace of the atmospheric

                instrumentals or his enticing

                singing itself. Ash has always

had a thing for autotune, and I

don't always love it, but I feel

like I give it a for this one

because the song itself is so

good. Same thing for loopy, I

                can't always fully appreciate his

                way through. It's another one

of those songs with a retro vibe

                but of course with christian's

and fell for it all over again. "lily"

                has a beautiful instrumental

and topline, but the story it tells

is what draws me in the most,

it goes on about lily falling for

                this charming person in the

woods, only to find out later he

had a curse. Shs runs from him

and he actually helps her get

                yet keeps some ballad-like

                influences. There are so many

catchy parts in this one like the

                chorus, no doubt, but also

seungwoo's "howl on you la la

la la" and subin's verse after

                the chorus. Hanse's rap verses

popped off, like they do in each

of their songs. I'll never stop

                bridge/high note is, this would

be it. It's an exquisite sound

when the drums kick in mid

                seungwoo verse and then he

breaks out into that lovely high

                note, which seungsik s

                soon, adding the higher part

of the note. Oh my god. This. ❞

             ─ׂ﹝fate/stay night: ubw﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ "Brave shine" is a classic. One

                of those openings everyone has

a soft spot for. I mean, my fave

franchise ever, with one of my

                japanese singers ever? Of course

it slaps. Can't believe it's been

almost a decade since this was

                released. The song builds up

with all the rock elements, nearly

                deceiving us about its nature

before it mellows out into its

                verses. The distinct rock sound

does come back in the chorus

though, the best part of the song

                without a single doubt. ❞

             ─ׂ﹝stray kids﹞◞◞ ׅ۬ 〃

➛ It might come as a surprise that

"slump" is this high. Sure, songs

like "chk chk boom" might be

higher in my skz songs ranking,

but when it comes to the ones

that just hit me in the feels and

shake me up, "slump" is at the

                top. Something about the heavy

                amount of emotion jisung put

into writing it speaks to me. The

                autotuned falsetto that makes

it somehow sadder and the slow

                guitar strums during the verses

                simply cannot be replaced. ❞

➛ The man, the legend. I love the

effects he puts on his songs so

much. Usually I hate those that

                completely change the vocal

tone but artemas makes it work

and although I love his natural

                voice, I think the modifications

                make his songs so intriguing.

The loud brass that comes in

                occasionally combined with the

slow drum hits are perfect. The

guy's falsetto is perfect. I could

                listen to his rythmic rhyming

                for days on end. ❞

➛ Man, "escape"s release had me

so hyped up and it surely didn't

                disappoint when it came out.

I loved it on release but I feel

like I keep loving it even more,

the more I listen to it. It gave

me the best chan falsetto I've

heard in any skz song, the best

chan high note I've heard in

any skz song. One so high it's

baffling that he was even able

to reach it. And then hyunjin's

repeat of "come with me" in

                the last chorus. Unreal. ❞

           ➛ I wanna say finally a non-emo

song, but as sus as it appears

to be on the surface, "red lights"

still takes a stroll through the

                dark thoughts these two have

                experienced, focused on the

                obsession they've felt towards

their work. It still boils down to

hitting us in the feels once we

                dive into the deeper semantics.

Anyways, the guitar in the hook

is what got me on first listen.

                But the falsettos and alluring

vocals are what I stayed for in

                the end. ❞

➛ We're finally at my number one

song from christian and let me

say that it so deserves its spot.

                The experience of listening to

                "ballroom extravaganza" is like

falling into a trance. It sucks

                you into the dystopian world

                christian sings about and does

not let go until the very end.

Even then it leaves you yearning

for more. I love the way he so

                smoothly draws out the words

during the chorus, as the music

goes crazy in the back. ❞

                ─────────────── 𐀔

            ꒰ O7 ꒱ 𓈒 › waiting

➛ I need more songs from him

and I need them now. "Waiting"

                wasn't a song I expeceted to

like this much at first listen, I

                was so into seungyoun's usual

style of upbeat music when it

comes to title tracks but this

one came in and left me fully

speechless. It's as sad as it's

                dreamy. He switches between

a low, breathy voice and a light,

                higher one between the verses

over this acoustic guitar; it all

                works together flawlessly. ❞

➛ THE GUITAR. Think pretty guitar

                strums are my weakness cause

                goddamn these don't sound real.

                "Valhalla" was comfort to me

during times when I needed it

the most, so this song is a little

extra special to me. On the top,

it doesn't seem to be anything

more than another hip hop song

                with the rappers taking turns

                showing off their insane flows,

                but their voices, specially ash's,

                sure reflects the desperation of

                looking for one's personal

                sanctuary, or one's valhalla. ❞

                past 15-something years. I've

listened to it on the first day of

                middle school, of high school,

of college, of work. I still won't

ever skip it when it comes onto

the playlist. I don't know what it

                is, I'm just extremely attached

to both this song and its anime.

It's so catchy, and the happy

                instrumental doesn't even fit its

➛ I know I knoww this song went

overplayed it so much but it's

still one hell of a work of art and

artemas is one of my fav artists

ever so it had to be here. It has

a retro vibe with the bubbling

synths but he adds his own

                modern touch with his singing.

                I'm sure everyone's heard this

song by now so I linked a live

➛ I do not know if you've noticed

but I tend to fall the hardest for

                the melancholic and emotional

                songs. Whole playlist turned out

gloomy but this is just the kind

of music that resonates with me.

"Como" has its roots in hip hop,

                having trap beats and monotone

singing, at times rapping. I may

call it monotone, but a better

word for it might be reminiscent

                or despondent? The highlight of

the song has to be the acoustic

                 guitar that creates a repeating

melody. Such a pretty sound. ❞

➛ "Unfair" is well, as dear as it

gets. I kept this song to write

for last because every time I

tried I kept failing to put down

                my thoughts into words. This

                song might be describing the

tale of beauty and the beast,

but felix delivers in the most

heartfelt way, so much so, that

you'd think it's his own story.

                He raps with such fierceness

                and sings with such tender-

ness. You can tell it's a song he

put every fibre of his being into.

That aside, he also shows off

his versatility as an artist by

                changing voice tones between

his lines and pulling each one

                off so well. ❞

➛ I still have to name "akuma no

ko" as the one song I treasure the

                most. I can't begin describing

how much it resonates with me.

Freedom is the notion I value the

most in my own life, the thing I

cannot do without. And the song

                conveys the yearning for that

freedom perfectly. It may only be

a 3 minute experience, but it

carries the whole story of "attack

on titan" with it. Not to forget ai

                higuchi's gorgeous voice which

is a flawless fit. I wish I could

describe how fond I am of it, but

I'd have to tell you the whole aot

story for that, and the different

                emotions each character brings

                to the show. ❞
