The last two posts involved items that could be purchased at an affordable rate. For this post. I'd like to go over items that can be used in your craft that can be found in nature!

Please note, I am based in Canada so all that I list might not be in your area. However, with some research you may find similar items and objects in your local area!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Crystals

Yes! Crystals can be found out in nature! It takes some time but they are definitely out there. Research your region / local area and see what times of gemstones are commonly found in your area.

The most commonly found crystal in my area is Agate. I live in the city but I do have a few parks I frequent. I have jars of Agate floating about my home. Agate is grounding and can be used for harmony, abundance and more! I've even collected fossilized Coral as well!

You can always look for a local "rock hounding" group to as well. They tend to go off in groups and rock hunt. Though many rock hounders are not witches but, you can still them, learn some cool facts and collect gemstones for your witchy practice!

Wands

Super easy but yes! You do not need to buy a wand or staff for your practice. Simply take a nature stroll. There are trees all about it! You can research trees in your local area and look up the magical correspondences of those trees to figure out which one would work best for you. Or simply, you can take a stroll and pick up a stick that calls to you. Take it home and cleanse it and decorate it as you see fit!

Divination Runes

Now, you won't find the runes just lying about BUT you can find some nice smooth rocks or wood slices on the ground that you can use to make your own! For a quick set of runes (Nordic or Witch runes) take a stroll and find some nice smooth rocks. Take them home, clean them, and grab a sharpie or paint and draw on your runes!

Bones

Be careful with this! Bones make lovely decor for any witch and can also be used in spells. However, take time to research proper handling of carcasses and bones as well as proper procedures to cleaning. For health and safety purposes do not just pick it up and take it home and drop it on your altar! They can carry diseases and parasites so be careful!

Herbs

Yes! Many herbs can be found outside! There are magickal herbs all around. Pretty much any plant outdoors has a magickal value and correspondence that can be used in your magickal workings! Take time to research local plants and see what you can find in your area!

Smoke Cleansing Supplies

In my area I can harvest types of Cedar and Juniper to bundle and dry. I then use these for smoke cleansing. You can even grow your own Rosemary or Sage to bundle and use in your craft. Maybe your neighbors, friends or family grow it and can give you some of their extras! I also like to use Pine for cleansing as well. Like the herbs, have a look at local trees and plants that grow in your area!

Altar Decor

You can collect sticks, flowers, rocks and other odds and ends to make DIY decor to place on your altar or around your home. You can make pentacles from sticks and plant fibres to hang up, maybe collect a nice stick and turn it into a herb drying rack to hang up, assemble sticks into the shapes of runes and tie them together with plant fibres to hang up, wreaths and more!

Besom / Broom / Hand Broom

Yup! You can make your own Besom / Broom! Find a nice sturdy stick for your handle and collect twigs, tall grass, flowers or whatever you choose for the base of the broom. You can find tutorials online on how to make these.

Meditation / Grounding / Centering

I find there is no better place to meditation, ground or center oneself than in nature itself! It's powerful a d beautiful! There is something about sitting in nature and listening to the breeze through the trees, the birds and the sun or rain on you that just can't be beat. Not materials are required for this!

Shells & Sea Salt

If you live near the Sea and Ocean, you can collect Ocean water and collect Sea Salt! You can find online how to collect the salt. It's straight forward and super easy to do! It would be easier to just go to the store but if you are on a budget then a little time and patience and you can "make" your own!

Shells are also great for the craft. They can be used in spells work and also make lovely pieces of decor!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully these ideas help fellow witches out there! There is definitely more you can do that incorporates nature and doesn't require you to spend vast amounts of money. These are just a few to get you started!

Shells also make good offerings to water entities and when it comes time to remove them as offerings they can go right back to the water where they'll eventually become part of sand. I love the shell-sand cycle!

Neat! I totally learned something new about shells. I had no idea about the sand aspect. Iove your idea if being able to return them to the earth after too!
