Goths in Isolation

In some ways, many goths and many vegans are better equipped to survive in isolation than other groups... a lot of us try our hardest to avoid “normies” in our everyday lives. And many of us need to mask our true natures for work or study purposes.

But.... not having our nightclubs, live music, picnics is showing up how much we really crave the interactions with others.

In Australia we now have maximum gatherings of 2 people and leaving homes only for essential services or purposes. One of the ‘essential’ reasons is to walk our dogs. So we might not be able to congregate as usual, but we can still get dressed up and meet our fellow dog walking goth friends one at a time. We have to maintain 1.5 metres social distancing and we are not allowed to stop and chat or sit in the park, but it’s better than nothing.

And youtube music channel through the big screen all day is pretty cool.

I am glad I decided to pay for YT tho!! No ads, just my fave tracks on shuffle. (And lots of clubs are running virtual nights via YT and fb. )

And sitting on the sofa doing crafts: recolouring old pikes, painting band logos on old jackets, and making some cool steampunk outfits are cool ways to avoid boredom. And I am learning how to use watercolour paints. I am also enrolled in an online diploma in an area I never previously studied, so it could be (much) worse.

I am also finally getting around to planting some fresh veggies in my garden and in my neighbourhood people are trading their home grown foods, ready meals and having picnics across our yards. And I discovered the man across the street likes Project Pitchfork which was unexpected...
