What an absolutely stunning piece! Your character development of Luca is masterful - he feels so real and complex, caught between his dangerous world and Hannah's light. The way you wove Hozier's lyrics directly into the narrative was brilliant, especially how "too sweet" became both literal dialogue and the emotional core of their relationship. Your atmospheric writing transported me straight into that smoky jazz bar - I could practically taste the whiskey and feel the tension. The pacing between tender moments and action sequences was perfect, and your ending struck the ideal balance of hope without being unrealistic. The character profiles at the end also show incredible depth of thought. This story captured the exact mood and complexity of the song while creating something entirely your own. Absolutely deserving of first place!

This piece is beautifully haunting and deeply emotional. Your use of the coffee shop as a stage for human connection and disconnection was genius - every vignette felt like a small, perfect story within the larger narrative. The way you mirrored the song's melancholy through the protagonist's observations was incredibly skillful. Your writing style is lyrical and atmospheric; phrases like "branches outside scraped against it" and "memories feel like weapons" are absolutely gorgeous. The cyclical structure, returning to the cold coffee and staying despite everything, perfectly captured the essence of "Stick Season." You created such a vivid sense of longing and acceptance that readers can feel in their bones. The subtle connections between all the lonely people in the café created a beautiful tapestry of shared human experience. Truly exceptional work! Great Job!

This entry was enjoyable to read. I love how at the start people are transfixed by the song you were given to write about and urged to enter the cafe. This almost gives the song this magical quality and gives that extra level of intrigue to the story.

Furthermore, the way you described Natasha's reaction to the increasingly loud music was so interesting. The similie of 'she starts to hear the song very loudly, and clouds her vision into a very spice-like atmosphere feeling like Natasha was being sucked into a blue-colored wormhole was by far my favourite part of the short story!

In addition to that it shocked me when it turned out it was an actual wormhole, I loved that plot twist! It was something I was not expecting but loved regardless. The wormhole also reminds me of several aspects of the song namely the similarities of a castle in your story and a kingdom in the song. I can tell you were very inspired by the lyrics and took your own creative liberties to make this amazing piece of literature.
