Earth Day!
What is it? Well it was created back in the 1970s! Inspired by these environmental disasters, the junior senator from Wisconsin established the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, to bring light to the issue of environmental responsibility and transforming the public’s attitude.
beginning in 1990, Earth Day went global and, according to its official organization, EarthDay.org, the day mobilized more than 200 million people in 141 countries to bring the fight for the environment to the global stage. In 1992 the United Nations hosted an Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and in 1995 Nelson would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his role as the founder of Earth Day
Now how does this relate to being a witch or a pagan? Well the earth of course! These isnt a religious holiday by any means but we can turn this time to be more intentional!
Things to do!
*Go on a hike and bring a trash bag! You can walk and meditate on top of cleaning the trails! Or go to a park, or even down a side walk!
*You could volunteer at a local community garden (or even your own garden) or animal shelter!
*Recycle as much as you can!
*Reuse items like sauce and jam jars or old cleaner bottles that will end up in a landfill!
*There are also great organizations to donate to like the founding organization of Earth Day. But even donating to your local community helps! Donate actually money, items to be reused, or helping out!
*Community work is where it's at!
In conclusion; should you celebrate Earth Day?
