It's come to my attention that a lot of people don't actually know how to correctly care for and wash their binders so I thought hey, why not make a post about it?

General Binder Care

This section willostly consist of miscellaneous tips on binder care before we get onto washing them!

• Don't wear it constantly. This is one already known, but I'm mentioning it here too because not only can constantly wearing your binder hurt you, it will stretch out your binder far quicker too. If you wear your binder every single day, it will take its toll on the binder. Give yourself and your binders a break as frequently as you can! Have a day off during the week if you're able to manage it! This will help your binder last longer before needing to be replaced!

•Don't be putting it on and taking it back off frequently. Similarly to how constant wear will degrade your binder, if you take it off and put it back on multiple times a day you're going to be stretching it out too.

• Hang it up in your wardrobe or fold it up in a drawer. Chucking it wherever once you're done with it can eventually result in you accidentally damaging it. One of my mates did this and his ended up ripping.

How to wash your binder!

Handwashing is by far the best way to do it, especially if you're closeted and can't afford to have your parents find your binder!

Machine washing can stretch out your binder or shrink it, and don't even think about putting it near a dryer.

How often you need to wash your binder will depend on how often you wear it, how much you sweat, when you can get away with washing it without being caught if closeted etc. But a basic rule is:

If it starts smelling like Satan's asscrack in the summer heat it needs a wash

Now then, onto how to wash it!

(This is my own method of washing my binder. Make sure you check the label on your own for any specific requirements)

Fill up your sink with relatively warm water (if you're somebody who can't handle hot water, invest in rubber washing up gloves).

I personally use a small amount of both powder and liquid detergent. First I'll put some powder detergent in (about a quarter to a half of a scoop), and then I'll squirt a small amount of liquid detergent into the water too and mix it around til the powder and liquid detergent have both dissolved in the water.

Put your binder in the water and let it soak for five to ten minutes, squish it down under the water and swish it about.

Take it out of the water, start running the tap and start to rinse it, squeeze out the dirty water. Continue rinsing it until there are no longer detergent bubbles. Squish out excess water so it isn't dripping everywhere.

Once you're done, hang it up to dry. If you're somebody who can't leave your binder out in the open because you're closeted/will have it taken from you etc, I recommend clearing a space in your wardrobe, and putting it on a hanger in there.

Make sure you dont overwash your binder, because with all of the squeezing n stuff overwashing it can stretch it out!!

I hope some of y'all found this helpful!!
