┊a few days ago i felt like just

         ┊shuffling through my playlist

         ┊and talking about songs that

┊come up but i thought that

         ┊would be a bit,, boring... so i

         ┊got a little bit of a different

┊idea which was to kind of think

┊of an imaginary producer - this

         ┊person is releasing a made

         ┊up album that would consist

┊of the first few songs from my

         ┊playlist that come on shuffle.

┊and with those songs i'll pick

         ┊the best fitting title track,

         ┊create some kind of aesthetic

┊for the album and put the

         ┊songs into a tracklist that

         ┊would make the most sense.

┊i did focus more on soloist songs,

┊so i skipped over group songs,

         ┊since i haven't really noticed

         ┊producers releasing songs with

         ┊whole groups but more like

         ┊picking a specific person that

         ┊best fits.

┊okay well anyway,, idk how well i

┊explained it but let's just start

. . . 𝐉𝐢𝐧𝐗 . . .

_ yoon miya

_ twenty four

_ active since 2O14

❝ jinx, real name yoon

miya - a 24 year old woman and

     our imaginary producer for this

blog. this is her second album

she's releasing after the first one

was faced with lots of positive

     . she isn't the biggest

producer in the industry but still

     someone well know for her

     versatility and ability to best

adapt to each artist she works

with. which results in a specter

of vastly different songs and a

style that is hard to pinpoint

     right back to her.

❝ the thing i worry

making this album is how to

make it feel like a unity. i have

a bunch of different songs from

a bunch of different artists who

each have their style and sound.

     producer albums despite having

     different artists and voices on

each song still feel cohesive since

after all it is written by the same

person and it has their own style

     in it.

so,, the plan for this first part is

too look over each song that turned

up. capture the, let's say, idea of

them and what kind of vibe do they

have so i know what to do with them

     later.

: ⇢ shaun | way back home

the first song that came up,, it

     feels quite nostalgic but also

kind of magical?? as if it's a song

that would fit a fairy with the

     bouncy yet soothing instrumental

     accompanied with the extremely

     smooth soft voice.

: ⇢ woodie gochild ft. hwasa | cotton candy

fun and fresh is how i'd describe

this one. i wouldn't call this song

chill yet it's neither too hype. even

     the drop is weirdly balancing

somewhere on that border. but it's

definitely catchy and feels like a

     fresh breath of summer.

: ⇢ one | instict

the way this song starts feels so

distant giving it a sort of heavier

feeling right at the start. and then

it just evolves into this rough and

sharp kind of song that pierces

     through you. almost dirty sounding.

: ⇢ sunmi | lalalay

it's sort of hard for me to explain

this song?? it feels confident but

also kinda creepy which is the

result of the light yet at the same

     time dark instrumental. it's defi-

    nitely a unique one, confusing

even, but that doesn't stop you

     from getting completely hooked.

: ⇢ seventeen (leader unit) | change up

we love a funky bop! change up

     isn't necessarily too intense and

flashy but it still manages to be

extremely fun and makes you bop

that head to it. it definitely has a

lot of very interesting parts that

make it an enjoyable listen each

     time.

: ⇢ ravi ft. san e | bomb

    unlike other songs this one's

     definitely darker, way more intense

and in your face. the instrumental

almost makes it feel heavy but with

the chorus and some other neat

sections it's turned into a rather

     fun party song.

: ⇢ lee hi ft. incredivle | official

such a light and classy song.

makes you feel like you're floating

with the wind that is her voice

taking you away. but as smooth

as it is, the drums and the rap part

still manage to give it a bit more

     of an edge.

: ⇢ tvxq's yunho ft. taeyong | city lights

there are some songs with the

vibe that i would explain as a deep

dark night and this is one of them.

     despite the almost completely

smooth melody and voice, it still

has this darker color. a bit more

     of a mysterious aura.

: ⇢ rick bridges | son

this song is a punch to the face

right from the start. it's rough and

     definitely very impactful. i'd even

say that it feels like a fight?? against

yourself or the world around you.

a song to boost your spirit.

: ⇢ jimin park | low voice

just like the previous song, this

one leaves quite an impact. but

in a sort of different way. it's

powerful - both the music and

     jimin's voice. especially the chorus

that gives the entire song a sort

     of more epic feel.

: ⇢ jang jinyoung ft. barberettes | stranger's love

    another very powerful song. but

this one solely relies on vocals

to achieve that as its mostly

     accompanied with a simple piano

and a sort of distant melody in

     the background. it feels strong

and emotional,, like a song fitting

     for a movie.

: ⇢ kanto | salty

shuffle decided to spit out another

very lively and funky song. this

     one literally sounds like colors.

     like crayons some kid threw

around. it's simply that much fun

and the catchy chorus just makes

     that fun level even higher.

: ⇢ n.flying | heartbreak

if a lonely rainy autumn day had

a sound, it would be something

like this song. whether it's rapping

or singing, you can simply hear

     that much pain in seunghyub's

voice here. it's simple yet still

powerful and creates a storm of

     emotions in your heart.

❝ having talked about

each song, it is time to pick the

title track. the song that would

leave the biggest impact and be

able to make the listener intrigued

enough to check out the rest of

the album. but at the same time,

a song that wouldn't contrast the

     rest of it too much.

looking over all of the songs again,

     i guess it's safe to say that it's a

mess. there's no certain type of

songs that decided to stick out.

there are some intense ones, darker,

     funkier, even those more emotional.

so how to pick just one to best

capture the idea and sound of this

album? it probably would've been a

good idea to perhaps have a certain

visual idea in advance instead of

trying to base it on one song out of

     so many different ones.

but i did pick one in the end. it was

     a struggle between 'cotton candy'

and 'city lights'. i think both of them

would be a more or less solid repre-

sentation of the album and while i

feel like cotton candy has a bit more

of an impact, city lights perhaps

goes better with the entire album.

while being torn like that, a thought

finally popped into my mind: why

not have a pre-release as well? and

     simply avoid my problem of

     choosing?? which is exactly what

     i did.

they're not too different but still not

too similar either. giving two different

perspectives over what it could be

     expected from the album.

⇢ cotton candy . . .

pre-release

⇢ city lights . . .

❝ so this is kinda the

cover of the album. i'm not much

of an editor and idk what an album

cover is supposed to be like,, i just

knew i wanted it to be a bit darker

cause i feel like the majority of the

songs either have a bit of a darker

or heavier vibe. i think the final

     product also captures the feeling

of 'city lights' quite well so i'm

satisfied with that part. it also

ended up somehow having a lot of

art influences in it??? so the name

i gave it is 'lost art' - not much

     meaning behind it tho.

❝ i'm not sure how

important the order of the songs

usually is but there are some

patterns that could be noticed in

kpop albums. most usually it's "lit

songs at the start, ballads at the

     end" kind of thing.

anyway,, my only goal here was

not to give the listener a whiplash

caused by a nice chill song one

     moment and then being slapped

     by something too intense.

and here's the final thing. i wrote

it in a way that the original artists

are a feature just so it would fit the

idea of them being songs on a

     producer album a bit better.

O1. stranger's love ft. jang jinyoung,

barberettes

O2. city lights ft. yunho (tvxq),

taeyong (nct)

O3. way back home ft. shaun

O4. cotton candy ft. woodie gochild,

hwasa (mamamoo)

O5. change up ft. s.coups, woozi

& hoshi (seventeen)

O6. lalalay ft. sunmi

O7. low voice ft. jimin park

O8. instict ft. one

O9. bomb ft. ravi, san e

1O. son ft. rick bridges

11. salty ft. kanto

12. official ft. lee hi, incredivle

13. heartbreak ft. seunghyub (n.flying)

i definitely knew i wanted to put

'stranger's love' first cause it just

has this grand and powerful side

that i think is a great start for

something. and it also serves like

a good song before 'city lights'. the

third song is somewhat similar to

the title track but still has a some-

what different vibe so i think it

would be a nice follow up.

and the rest i went with the logic i

     spoke about before. putting the

more intense and darker ones first

and then slowly shifting into those

a bit more mellow and emotional.

. . . ⚘ . . .

and that is the entire

album. i really hope i managed

to make everything have sense

and that it was more or

less enjoyable

thanks for reading!

bye

I totally knew it! I knew this was going to be such an interesting blog!! The concept of it is just so cool, like I can’t imagine trying to throw some random songs together to make an album but you did it! And you did it almost flawlessly. It seemed like you knew exactly how to set the album up, choosing the most impactful songs for the title track and pre release as well as putting the track list together in a way that was totally balanced. I think you did amazing!!

I’d totally buy this album lol
